Junge Island

May 16, 2016

Take a walk on the wild side at Miami’s Jungle Island. Less than fifteen minutes from our South Beach area hotel, located on Watson Island, Jungle Island combines the beauty of Miami’s tropical landscape with a jungle full of extraordinary animals. This family-friendly park lives up to its name with unusual flora, amazing African sausage trees, rare twin orangutans and of course, over 300 vibrant birds, including the world’s only trained cassowary. During a visit to Jungle Island, visitors can enjoy entertaining shows like Winged Wonders where you will see stunt-performing macaws, the Wild Encounter where you will see the big cats and can take a photo with tiger cubs after each show. Visitors can also witness the intelligence of their outstanding orangutans in Orangutan School. Get to see Peanut and Pumpkin, twin orangutans, Jake, the big man on campus, Hannah, the diva, and Connie and Sinbad, the oldest of the bunch. Enjoy feeding the birds around the park from the food dispensers located along the jungle paths. After getting up close and personal with the animals, head to Miami’s only private beach on the farthest tip of Jungle Island. Soak up some sun, relax in lounge chairs, and then cool off by wading in Biscayne Bay. Take the kids to the playground where they can frolic on slides and crawl tubes while you take a breather. Before leaving the island, head to the gift shop where you can purchase a stuffed version of your favorite jungle animal. After a fun day at Jungle Island, head back to our South Beach area hotel for dinner at one of the many restaurants on Espanola Way.
