It focuses on women's fashion design. This course covers four key aspects of fashion design (Fashion Illustration, Fabric Print Design, Pattern Development, Garment Construction) culminating in an impressive portfolio and a completed garment. Fashion Illustration: In class sketching and demonstrations, Painting and coloration techniques, Croqui (Fashion Figure) development, Drawing FacesFinal Assignment: One complete collection (9-10 designs), inspiration page, color palate, title page Fabric Print Design: Final Assignment: Develop 2 fabric samples (one abstract and one nature-inspired) and three designs to accompany each sample. Pattern Development: Each student will learn the basics of pattern development. Final Assignment: Design an outfit (top and bottom or dress), Develop a pattern for this outfit. Basic Construction: Students will use their pattern that they have made to construct their garment for their final assignment. Muslin is provided, but students are responsible for choosing and purchasing the fabric and notions for their final garment.
